How we spend our days, of course, is how we spend our lives…
The Belle Cora is the newest offering from Two Rivers Retreats located in the historic gold rush mining town of Grass Valley in the Sierra foothills. The Belle Cora is situated in a quiet sleepy neighborhood, with neighbors close by, yet once you step inside the cottage it all fades away. Our large trees in the back have grown such lush branches that form protection from the rest of the world, creating a serene forest like feel to our back porch. The kitchen with it’s large window and french doors opening to the back feels very European, inviting a bit of the outdoors in.
We are walking distance to town, about a 20 minute walk through the historic district. I just love seeing all of the old victorians, the churches, parks and the cemetery on a lazy stroll into town.
Summers in Grass Valley are bustling with activities. The fairgrounds, just down the street from us, always offering events and entertainment. Drive to one of the many river spots offered by the majestic Yuba River. I find soaking in it’s cold waters, sunbathing on one of its many large river rocks to be one of the most soothing healing days I’ve ever experienced.
The river and the many hiking trails are what drew me to the area. I love exploring the history of the gold rush, this is where it all started! There are many historic landmarks to visit and learn a bit of California history. Winter offers a slower paced vibe, with still many places to explore, for the curious.
The Belle Cora has been styled and designed with great care, from many local antique shops and estate sales, to accentuate the historic feel of our 100 + year old structure yet still provide modern luxuries and amenities. Our sitting room with gas powered fireplace nearby offers cozy evenings enjoying each others company. The clawfoot tub in the bathroom invites a relaxing evening soak after a day of hiking the trails along the Yuba. The original wood flooring reminds you of the history of the home.
Every room, every corner holds a surprise. There are unique one of a kind finds selected, curated, with you in mind.
Trees were planted that will grow to provide even more privacy to the back lounging area. Rose bushes thriving in the front, wildflower seeds spread that will bloom all spring, summer and fall in the following year. Belle Cora feels like a living breathing abode, that will grow and flourish with us, and you, over the coming years. We anticipate the house welcoming the changing seasons of Nevada County year after year.
We have a queen bed, a/c in the summer, gas fireplace in winter. Fully stocked kitchen, laundry room for your use, parking on site.
